Being the most oriental and northern part of the whole Balearic Islands, Minorca is a 48 km. long and 18 km. wide. It is the second great island of the Balearic archipelago with a surface of 702 km2, and a coastal perimeter of 290 km. You can travel though it either on foot or bicycle thnaks to the 'Cami de Cavalls' (a roadboarding the whole island. In adittion, you can use the boat or kayak to move across the coast, and discover the island most hidden places and virgin beaches.
The climate of the island is typical Mediterranean. Minorca can be considered a museum in the open air thanks to its prehistoric monuments such as its old villages, caves, 'Navetas', 'Taulas' and 'Talaiots'. Everyone admiring archaeology can visit the entire historical heritage.
Menorca has a long cultural history which can be seen in the traditions of their local fiestas such as San Juan, in which the true protagonist is the native breed of horse. There can also be found a variety of crafts, folkloric dances and museums which can bring us closer to the cultural reality of the island.
The cheeses and sausages, the gin, lobster stew, menorquin ensaimada... are just a few of the typical local products.
